There are a lot of things that were left unanswered in The Glory Part 1. Writer Kim Eun Sook also said in an interview that she would be picking up all the loose ends from Part 1 in Part 2, so it will be interesting to see how she does it.
Before the release of Part 2 on March 10, I've picked up 10 viewing points. If you haven't watched The Glory Part 1, please watch it first (strong spoiler alert), as I think it will be more interesting to watch Part 2 with knowledge.
*Note: I did not watch the 9/10 episode premiere to make part 2 more enjoyable!!!
A. Whereabouts?
1. Where is So-Hee's body?
So-hee's death has made Dong-eun the target of harassment by the members of Yeon-jin. But how did So-hee die (there are lines in the drama that suggest Yeon-jin killed her, but no actual scene) and what happened to her body in the storage room? Did it disappear? Or was it never there in the first place?
2. The whereabouts of Son Myung-oh
Kim Gun-woo, the actor who plays Son Myung-oh in the drama, posted a photo of himself dressed in Son Myung-oh's style on March 10 with the words PART 2. Isn't Son Myung-oh dead? This is also very curious because it wasn't made clear in part 1.
B. Revenge
3. What is the final destination of Dong-eun's revenge?
In the trailer for Part 2, we see a desperate Dong-eun crying. In contrast to her intelligent and calm appearance in Part 1, we are very interested to see if she will remain calm and cool to the end, or if she will become a bloody avenger.
4. What will happen to Dong-eun's mom?
Dong-eun's mom betrayed her by selling her for money, even though she was the daughter she gave birth to, and didn't have any parental feelings for her. How will Dong-eun treat her mom? Will she make her the target of her revenge or will she let her down in some other way?
5. How will Yeon-jin's daughter be used as an instrument of revenge?
In Part 1, Dong-eun becomes the homeroom teacher of Yeon-jin's daughter's school as planned. The scene where Dong-eun and Yeon-jin's daughter met in Part 1 was a heart-warming scene for me (as it is for any father with a daughter). Personally, I hope that Yeon-jin is Yeon-jin and her daughter is her daughter, so she won't be used as a tool for revenge.
C. Where the Characters End Up
6. Whose side will Do-Young be on?
Do-young is more of a leading man in a romance drama with a journey. Douglas isn't a romance drama, so that's not going to happen, but in Part 1, Do-Young is shown to have a crush on Dong-Eun. In the second half, he realizes that Dong-eun's advances are premeditated because of her past relationship with his wife, Yeon-jin, and his daughter's homeroom teacher. We're left to wonder if Do-Young will side with Yeon-Jin or Dong-Eun after learning about the past.
7. Journey of Revenge
Another male protagonist's journey. As Dong-eun's right-hand man, he is loyal to her, even willing to take a knife for her, but he also has a painful past. He's traumatized by the memory of his father being killed by a psychotic killer, and it seems like he's been training himself physically and mentally to forget that trauma. How will he unleash the power he's been building up in Part 2?
8. The future of Hyun-Nam and his daughter
Not to be left out is Dong-eun's helper, Hyun-nam. Hyun-nam and his daughter have been abused by their alcoholic husband, and in a way, Dong-eun has been acting as a donor angel to look after their future. At the end of Part 1, she even arranged for Hyun-nam's daughter to study abroad and supported her financially. What kind of ending will we see in Part 2?
9. Who is the landlord's grandmother?
She's an old lady who seems to have a chilly demeanor, but somehow makes you feel that she cares about Dong-eun. She appears to be the landlady of the villa where Dong-eun lives, but there's something about her that seems out of the ordinary. How will the grandmother's role play out in Part 2?
10. The role of the shaman's house
Whenever Yeon-jin had an accident, she would come to the shaman's house and have her mother solder her with coarse salt. Looking at the people who come in and out of the shaman's house, it seems that there are a lot of women who come in and out of the house, ranging from police officials who look out for Yeon-jin's family, to women who seem to be up to no good. While nothing has been revealed yet, there is already a lot of speculation on the net. What tools does the shaman house have against Yeon-Jin and her mother?
Conclusion
These are the top 10 things to watch for The Glory part 2. It's a very popular drama that is one of the pillars of Netflix Korea's monthly subscriptions, so I'm looking forward to seeing what The Glory part 2 has in store for viewers. A lot.
